Subject: Great Show!
Subject: Great Show!
This was a great night in Richmond! I traveled down for a double whammy in Richmond & Greensboro. I’m not one who professes that there is a BEST
...
version of any song in the Dead’s massive cannon, in fact, anyone who does, I feel, is missing the point. Plus do you ever notice people say that the best version of a song is from a show they attended to claim ownership of being there!!! Lol. So, once again, I choose to say I have 2 favourite PITB sequences from ‘83 (a
n underrated year in my opinion) One which I saw & one I didn’t. This Playing>Crazy Fingers is SWEEEET! Jerry laying down some liquid guitar while Bobby is kicking ass with the whammy bar. Phil & drummers are cooking as well. Post Drums/Space just cooks all the way through!!! My other fave ‘83 PITB is from Seattle 8/27/83 which has languid playing & a lovely transition to UJB. Always prefer a nicer journey from one song to the next as opposed to just a jam puttering out & another beginning. I wasn’t at Seattle show, but boy I wish I was. Can’t really go wrong with Fall ‘83 shows. This was the tour the hauled out St, Stephen twice. Never to be played again....

Very nice aud!!!
Stranger sets the pace, quick and sharp. Hell in a Bucket sweet and smoooth. Playing the Band Jam + ***** Drums notations should read ... Drums>Space> fun for me getting fab echoes of the drums and the space off the tombstones in the cemetery across the strret from my hosue, working in the garden today with no one else home in the townhomes, so I let er rip. Richmond Crowd LUVS Truckin, and again goes apeshit in Wharfrat - "doin time for some other fucker's crime" is that a outhern issue?). I love the "I know the lie I've been living's no good" Phil fuckin delivers! Very spirited Good Lovin, with Bobby: "Ya gotta puch back the night!" Nice clean finish with US Blues, I love it when confedereacy crowds cheer the starts and stripes. This on'es a keeper show.
